Indianapolis, US · Full-time · $148,500 – $257,400
About this role
At Lilly, we unite caring with discovery to make life better for people around the world. Verve Therapeutics, a wholly owned subsidiary, focuses on developing gene editing medicines to protect against heart disease. The company aims to create transformative, once-and-done therapies using gene editing to permanently lower LDL cholesterol and triglyceride levels.
This role serves as a leader within Verve's Analytical Development function. You will recruit, shape, and lead a team of scientists and associates building analytical capabilities for the late-stage pipeline. The position architects next-generation analytical methods for extended characterization of RNA drug substances and LNP drug products.
You will operate at the intersection of science and strategy, partnering with cross-functional teams across Lilly's Product Research & Development organization. Your team supports non-GMP testing for comparability assessments, process development, stability, and product characterization studies. As part of the Technical Operations team, you influence how the function is built.
This is a rare opportunity to build analytical capabilities from the ground up. You will drive programs from development through commercialization while providing technical expertise for structural characterization of gRNAs, mRNAs, and lipid nanoparticle complexes. The role offers real influence over function direction and meaningful impact on human health.
Requirements
- Demonstrated expertise in biophysical methods for extended characterization of RNA and lipid nanoparticle drug products.
- Experience leading analytical development activities from late-stage development through commercialization.
- Proven ability to recruit, build, and lead high-performing teams of scientists and associates.
- Strong track record serving as analytical lead on CMC project teams in a cross-functional environment.
- Deep knowledge of structural characterization techniques for gRNAs, mRNAs, and LNP complexes.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team of scientists working on mRNA, gRNA and LNP assays focused on biophysical extended characterization.
- Partner across the Analytical Development team and cross-functionally with BR&D and SMDD to lead, plan, and execute complex characterization studies.
- Develop and implement methods intended for product characterization to support late stage and commercialization of gene editing programs.
- Provide technical expertise for the structural characterization of gRNAs, mRNAs and lipid nanoparticle (LNP) complexes.
- Serve as analytical lead for CMC project teams and other cross-functional interactions.
- Support non-GMP testing across development studies including comparability assessments, process development, stability, and product characterization.
