About this role

Tarkett is seeking a hands-on Senior Polymer Chemist for its Florence, AL facility. This role provides technical leadership in formulation, mixing, and calendaring of PVC products. The focus is innovating new PVC/plastic products while optimizing current products and processes for better quality and cost.

You will develop and revise formulations to meet company goals and evaluate new raw materials supporting sustainability. Monitor raw materials and additives to ensure consistent product quality. Assist operations and quality teams in process monitoring and claim resolutions.

Support efforts to improve QCD and lead cost savings projects aligned with WCM strategy. Use Management of Change process for documentation and work with vendors on new technologies. Own formulations for the facility with occasional travel.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in plastic processing
  • Experience with PVC compounding
  • R&D Lab operational experience with high knowledge in chemical analysis
  • Knowledge of Plastic mixing and calendaring
  • Experience in processing/laminating different polymers/blends
  • Knowledge of raw material supply chain
  • Project management skills/training/organization

Responsibilities

  • Develop and revise formulations for current and new products to meet Company goals
  • Innovate and evaluate new and alternate raw materials for Tarkett’s Sustainability goals
  • Monitor raw materials and additives to ensure consistent product quality
  • Write and update raw material purchasing specifications
  • Assist quality team in monitoring production processes through finished goods
  • Lead and facilitate cost savings projects in support of WCM strategy
  • Lead projects providing appropriate timelines and reports
  • Work with outside vendors and consultants on new technologies
