About this role
This role provides laboratory support for consumer beauty products, specializing in triple-quadrupole Liquid Chromatography Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS QQQ) analysis. The Analytical Chemist II performs sample preparations, extractions, and other analytical techniques to measure analytes from diverse sample types.
Daily tasks include running validated methods on LC-MS QQQ, HPLC, and GC-FID instruments, preparing serial dilutions for standards and quality controls, and extracting samples from human source material like hair and skin. The analyst also handles biological kit assays, mag-bead technology, chemiluminescence, fluorescence, and absorbance readers, and documents experiments via electronic lab notebook (ELN).
The position operates in a client laboratory environment with direct client interaction, requiring strict adherence to SOPs, safety guidelines, and company Quality, Health, Safety, Security and Environmental policies. The analyst complies with client and regulatory management systems while maintaining logbooks and instrumentation.
Training is provided on additional analytical methods and instruments such as GC, HP-LC, NMR, and biological kit assays, offering growth in a multidisciplinary lab. The role follows Monday through Friday first shift but requires flexibility to meet department needs and complete other assigned projects.
Requirements
- Liquid Chromatography Mass Spectrometry (or related instrumentation) experience
- Precision laboratory skills including micro-pipetting, balance use, and creation of serial dilutions
- Strong attention to detail and ability to learn quickly
- Good customer service skills for client-facing work in a client laboratory
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Experience with keeping a laboratory notebook and performing basic analytical data analysis
- Written and verbal communication skills for effective interaction with colleagues and clients
Responsibilities
- Perform instrument analysis to measure analytes from a variety of sample types, utilizing LC-MS QQQ, HPLC, and GC-FID
- Utilize biological kits, mag-bead technology, chemiluminescence, fluorescence, and absorbance readers
- Perform serial dilutions to create standards and quality control samples following written methods
- Prepare samples for analysis, including extractions from human source material such as hair and skin, via written protocols
- Run validated methods and maintain instrumentation
- Quantitate and interpret chromatographic data
- Prepare samples for NMR analysis per written protocol
- Document experiments and generate data reports via ELN (electronic lab notebook)
