About this role

The Scientist I (QC Chemistry) is accountable for driving results in a fast-paced environment by performing analytical routine testing in support of pharmaceutical product development or pharmaceutical manufacturing. HPLC, TOC, UV, osmolality, density, and pH are commonly employed. Test methods may be compendial such as USP or EP, or proprietary client-supplied methods.

Daily work includes performing assays, potencies, pH, TOC, moisture content, identification, particle size, and other wet chemistry and instrument-based measurements. Generated data is evaluated and interpreted for technical correctness and accuracy while maintaining the theoretical basis of methods and experiments.

The role operates in a cGMP-regulated laboratory environment with emphasis on safe handling of potent compounds and proper use of instrumentation. Laboratory software packages including Empower3, ProCal, Master Control, and ELN are used to document work and maintain compliance.

Employees maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment while ensuring timely completion of all relevant company training requirements. The position supports removal of hazardous waste and routine equipment cleaning as part of standard laboratory operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field with coursework in Chemistry and 2+ years related work experience.
  • Or Associate’s degree in Chemistry or related field with 6+ years related experience.
  • Good verbal and written communication and documentation skills.
  • Good detail orientation, organizational skills, and basic problem-solving ability.
  • Strong knowledge of laboratory equipment, safety, and laboratory documentation.
  • Working knowledge of cGMP in a pharmaceutical or regulated environment preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required.

Responsibilities

  • Performs assays, potencies, pH, TOC, moisture content, identification, particle size, and other wet chemistry and instrument-based measurements.
  • Evaluates and interprets generated data for technical correctness and accuracy.
  • Performs technical review of common laboratory data and maintains working knowledge of instrumentation and methodologies.
  • Maintains laboratory stock of reagents, clean glassware, and removes expired solutions.
  • Safely handles potent compounds and maintains a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
  • Uses laboratory software packages including Empower3, ProCal, Master Control, and ELN.
  • Ensures timely completion and compliance with cGMP and all relevant company training requirements.
