About this role

CooperSurgical, a leading fertility and women's healthcare company and a division of CooperCompanies, is seeking a QC Chemistry Intern to support pH measurement process characterization for MEVS products. This role offers hands-on experience in analytical chemistry within a GMP-regulated environment.

The intern will assist in evaluating electrode performance, buffer preparation, and calibration frequency, while collaborating on performance qualification for pH incubators. Day-to-day tasks include sample preparation, data collection for process improvement experiments, and maintaining laboratory records with traceability.

Working closely with QC technicians, engineers, and cross-functional teams, the intern contributes to troubleshooting deviation investigations, root cause analysis, and the preparation of SOPs and technical reports. This collaborative environment emphasizes audit readiness and compliance with regulatory standards.

This internship provides exposure to method suitability assessments, data trending, and statistical analysis of pH measurement results, preparing summary reports for senior review. It is an opportunity to develop practical skills in a mission-driven organization dedicated to supporting patients throughout their healthcare journey.

Requirements

  • Basic understanding of analytical chemistry principles, including pH theory, potentiometry, and acid-base chemistry.
  • Familiarity with laboratory instrumentation such as pH meters, electrodes, and calibration standards.
  • Ability to follow written procedures and SOPs accurately with strong attention to detail.
  • Basic data analysis skills, including the use of spreadsheets (Microsoft Excel) for organizing and summarizing experimental results.
  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related scientific discipline.
  • Knowledge of GMP, ISO, or FDA quality standards is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Support the characterization of pH measurement processes for MEVS products, including evaluation of electrode performance, buffer preparation, calibration frequency, and measurement variability.
  • Collaborate on performance qualification processes for pH incubators, including protocols and reporting.
  • Assist in the design and execution of process improvement experiments for pH testing, collecting and organizing data according to approved protocols.
  • Perform sample preparation and testing under supervision in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), ensuring GMP-compliant documentation.
  • Contribute to the evaluation and comparison of pH measurement equipment and consumables, supporting method suitability assessments.
  • Assist in the preparation and revision of SOPs, work instructions, and technical reports related to pH testing processes.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and troubleshooting activities when pH measurement results deviate from established specifications.
  • Support data trending and statistical analysis of pH measurement results, preparing summary reports for review by senior staff.

Benefits

  • Work in a GMP-compliant laboratory environment with exposure to regulatory standards (ISO, FDA).
  • Hands-on experience with analytical chemistry instrumentation and method development.
  • Opportunity to collaborate with cross-functional teams on process improvement and troubleshooting projects.
  • Mentorship from senior QC staff and engineers in a leading fertility and women's healthcare company.
