Within Global Operations, Materials Science and Technology (MSAT) teams enable robust manufacturing and product quality. We seek an experienced Analytical Chemist to provide expert analytical chemistry support across chromatography consumables and performance chemistries.

This site-based role in Folsom, CA, delivers hands-on GC and LC analytical expertise for day-to-day manufacturing priorities, investigations, and continuous improvement. The position owns the full lifecycle of critical LC/GC methods, including development, optimization, qualification/validation, transfer, and change control. Complex laboratory work focuses on GC, LC (HPLC/UHPLC), and complementary techniques like LCMS and GCMS.

Partners closely with Manufacturing, Quality, R&D, and Global Operations to align analytical strategy with product requirements and operational priorities. Acts as site chromatography subject matter expert, establishing standards for separation science, method robustness, and troubleshooting. Leads product performance evaluations, robustness studies, and root cause analysis for deviations, CAPA, and complaints.

Drives continuous improvement in chromatography capability, instrument performance, and preventative maintenance. Provides technical leadership through mentoring, influencing cross-functional teams, and adopting best practices. Authors high-quality technical documentation ensuring compliance and data integrity.

Requirements

  • Expertise in analytical chemistry support for chromatography consumables and performance chemistries
  • Hands-on experience with GC and LC (HPLC/UHPLC) analytical techniques
  • Proficiency in method development, optimization, qualification/validation, transfer, and change control
  • Knowledge of separation science, method robustness, system suitability, and troubleshooting
  • Ability to execute statistically sound experiments including DOE and interpret complex datasets
  • Experience leading root cause analysis, investigations, deviations, and CAPA in manufacturing
  • Familiarity with Agilent markets and critical GC/LC applications
  • Skills in technical documentation, compliance, and data integrity for protocols and reports

Responsibilities

  • Own the full lifecycle of critical LC/GC analytical methods, including development, optimization, qualification/validation, transfer, and change control
  • Execute and oversee complex laboratory work, primarily GC and LC (HPLC/UHPLC), with complementary techniques like LCMS and GCMS
  • Act as the site chromatography subject matter expert, establishing standards for separation science, method robustness, system suitability, and troubleshooting
  • Design and execute statistically sound experiments, including DOE, interpret complex datasets, and communicate risk-based recommendations
  • Lead product and process performance evaluations, robustness studies, and root cause analysis to support deviations, CAPA, complaints, and improvements
  • Partner cross-functionally with Manufacturing, QC, QA, R&D, and Global Operations to align analytical strategy with priorities
  • Lead complex investigations related to manufacturing events and customer complaints using structured problem-solving methodologies
  • Provide on-floor troubleshooting, drive continuous improvement of chromatography capability, and author technical documentation
