This Principal Specialist role in Quality Control Chemistry operates on the weekend shift from 12:00 PM - 12:00 AM, Friday - Sunday.

Quality Control is responsible for the analysis and inspection of products or processes for compliance with specifications and standards. The role performs visual assessment and analytical evaluation or testing of products/processes. It demonstrates knowledge of testing methods, product usage, and applicable regulations and standards.

Reports to Manager, Quality Control (Chemistry). Serves as a technical leader within Quality Control chemistry, providing technical guidance and training to others on SOPs and quality guidelines. Exhibits professional conduct and understands success in a team environment.

Possesses in-depth knowledge as a Subject Matter Expert for processes, tools, and equipment. Actively participates in improving work processes to meet and exceed expectations. Builds relationships across functions to bring value to the company.

Requirements

  • Demonstrates knowledge of testing methods, product usage, and applicable regulations and standards
  • Adheres to established policies and procedures
  • Establishes test methodology and contributes to the development of policies and procedures
  • Provides technical guidance and training to others on SOPs and quality guidelines
  • Serves as a technical leader within Quality Control chemistry
  • Possesses in-depth knowledge of work processes and tools as a Subject Matter Expert
  • Exhibits Cardinal Health's high ethical standards and code of conduct
  • Takes actions to continually improve quality and safety in daily work

Responsibilities

  • Performs analysis of incoming materials, in-process, and product samples
  • Performs visual assessment and analytical evaluation or testing of products/processes
  • Serves as a technical mentor and trainer to personnel working in the chemistry department
  • Leads and facilitates the qualification of applicable analytical instrumentation
  • Executes method verification, validation, and/or transfer protocols
  • Executes analytical equipment qualification protocols or computer system validation test scripts
  • Performs stability testing in alignment with stability protocols at the prescribed cadence
  • Performs laboratory investigations, change controls, deviations, and corrective/preventive actions
