About this role

Ensure all QA laboratory activities comply with the company’s HSEQ procedures and meet strategies and objectives. Control QA laboratory activities in an efficient, cost-effective manner. Develop effective laboratory management systems including workload prioritizing, overtime allocation, good housekeeping, inventory control, equipment maintenance, and waste minimization.

Work with other sections on troubleshooting problems, customer complaints, and aged stock for raw materials and finished products. Carry out laboratory scale blending, issue work-off recommendations, and check compatibility tables for new products. Update and maintain Daily Quality Records and Raw Material Summary.

Establish new specifications, testing methods, shelf life, and evaluate new products and raw materials. Collect molecular weight data for new products and monitor polymer and inhibitor content in storage tanks. Maintain and calibrate lab equipment for four laboratories while managing inventory and expenses within budget.

Maintain QA laboratory procedures per ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 standards. Perform risk assessments and update CHRA lists with HSE team. Assist R&D, technical service, and maintenance with testing competitor samples, molecular weight analysis, equipment calibration, and wastewater samples.

Requirements

Degree in Chemistry or other Science disciplines from a recognized institution
Minimum of 3 years working experience preferred
Technical related work experience in a chemical or manufacturing plant laboratory
Good knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 management systems
Conversant in English and Bahasa Malaysia
Proficiency in computer applications (Microsoft Office)

Troubleshoot problems, handle customer complaints, and manage aged stock with other departments
Carry out laboratory scale blending and issue work-off recommendations for off-specification, aged, or returned products
Update and maintain Daily Quality Records and Raw Material Summary
Maintain and calibrate lab equipment for four laboratories
