The Senior Analytical Chemist builds internal characterization services with direct impact on battery performance and lifetime.

You'll develop and document analytical methods to quantify chemical and structural characteristics of component materials. Act as subject matter expert for analytical tools and ASTM/ISO methods while assessing and refining techniques for elemental composition. Collaborate with Software Engineering to automate analysis workflows.

Champion operational excellence in the analytical lab for high sample throughput and quality data-based decisions. Maintain robust communication with stakeholders, negotiating requests and optimizing processes. Leverage cloud-based sample management and custom software for tracking complex lifecycles.

Requirements

3+ years of deep hands-on expertise in wet chemistry (e.g. ICP, titration) and thermal/spectroscopic analysis (e.g. FTIR/Raman, TGA, DSC) applied to material characterization
B.S. or M.S. or Ph.D. in Chemistry or a related field
Proven experience managing a lab environment, overseeing sample queues, and leading technicians in a high-throughput support function
Expertise assessing and refining analytical methods for elemental and structural composition of battery components
Experience specifying and procuring automated analysis equipment
Familiarity collaborating with software teams on analysis automation
Knowledge of ASTM/ISO methods for material characterization
