About this role
The Pickling Process Chemist supervises the pickling process for stainless steel pipes and hollows at Alleima in Mehsana, India. Key duties include preparation and maintenance of pickling solutions using acids, inhibitors, and other chemicals. Ensure all operations follow standard operating procedures and product specifications.
Day-to-day tasks involve monitoring chemical concentrations in pickling baths and replenishing them as needed. Implement corrective actions when deviations occur and maintain compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations. Handle chemical safety data sheets (MSDS) and ensure proper storage of hazardous materials.
Foster a safe work environment aiming for zero accidents while motivating the team to achieve high quality and productivity standards. Maintain a disciplined section with adherence to ISO 9001, EHS activities, 5S standards, TPM implementation, and Kaizen improvements. Collaborate with engineers and production managers for process enhancements.
Conduct research to recommend adjustments that boost pickling performance and cut costs. Provide regular reports to management on process performance, safety, and compliance. Investigate and resolve issues related to pickling quality or efficiency.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Chemistry or related field
- 2-3 years’ experience in stainless steel tube finishing, pickling
- Knowledge of pickling solutions including acids and inhibitors
- Familiarity with monitoring chemical concentrations and SOP adherence
- Experience ensuring EHS compliance and handling hazardous materials
- Understanding of ISO 9001, 5S standards, TPM, and Kaizen
- Ability to supervise shift operations and allocate manpower/jobs

- Create safety work environment and motivate team to aim for zero accidents, highest quality, and productivity
- Collaborate with engineers to improve pickling efficiency, minimize waste, and provide performance reports
