About this role

The Senior Research Chemist provides technical expertise in the development, qualification, and implementation of new products for global feminine hygiene medical device products. This role requires a good understanding of feminine hygiene products, associated technologies, methods of manufacture, design control, and medical device industry regulations. The position involves pursuing research projects independently and serving as Technical Project Lead on product development initiatives.

Daily responsibilities include conducting independent research from ideation to technical transfer and launch under general managerial direction. Support marketed products to maintain operational continuity and competitiveness. Plan, design experiments, analyze data, provide timely reports, and maintain accurate records of studies.

Adhere to laboratory procedures for regulated medical devices and assist in maintaining compliance, including SOP development and equipment maintenance. Requirements

  • BS or MS degree in chemistry/biochemistry or related discipline with 7+ years of industry experience or PhD with 3+ years in a related technical field
  • 5+ years in a collaborative role with background in product development, ability to analyze results, draw conclusions, and recommend actions
  • Experience working in the medical device industry
  • Good working knowledge of medical device industry regulations, standards, and regulatory bodies (FDA, ISO, MDR)
  • Good understanding of feminine hygiene products, associated technologies, and methods of manufacture
  • Knowledge of design control
  • Ability to plan and execute multiple technical projects in laboratory or manufacturing plant
  • Uses good judgment in priority calls

Responsibilities

  • Conduct independent research including ideation, technical transfer to manufacturing sites, and launch under the general direction of the Manager
  • Support marketed products to maintain operational continuity and remain relevant amongst competitive set
  • Create, update, and maintain electronic product specifications and assemble product design history files for new launches and change control
  • Adhere to procedures for laboratory work on regulated medical devices and assist in maintaining compliance including SOP development and equipment maintenance
  • Serve as primary R&D subject matter expert during audits, resolution of findings, and corrective actions
  • Train junior scientists and technicians in experimental design, data analysis, and developing conclusions
  • Plan, design experiments, analyze data, provide timely reports, and maintain complete and accurate records
  • Collaborate with internal departments, external manufacturers, and suppliers to recommend technologies for product performance, claims, and launch campaigns
