About this role
Pact Group’s Contract Manufacturing Division manufactures across several operational sites and supplies homecare and personal-care categories to major retailers and global FMCG brand owners. The senior process development chemist develops and optimizes chemical processes for new and existing cosmetic products on a large scale. Conduct laboratory-scale experiments to determine feasibility of new processes.
Scale up processes from laboratory to pilot, fill trial, and full-scale production while ensuring GMP and hygiene principles. Investigate and resolve production problems related to quality, cost, and safety. Support production personnel in following company procedures, GMP, and WH&S principles.
Liaise with development chemists and packaging engineer to ensure formulations and packaging align with production capabilities. Assist quality control in investigating out-of-specification results and customer complaints. Update and create materials and BOMs in SAP.
Develop manufacturing processes by studying product requirements, researching, designing, modifying, and testing methods. Identify, plan, and implement projects to improve quality, reduce waste, increase productivity and efficiency. Liaise with finance to track and report cost-saving benefits.
Requirements
- Qualifications in chemical engineering
- Strong knowledge of chemical engineering and process design, laboratory experience, and problem-solving skills
- At least 3-5 years prior experience in process chemist
- Experience in quality management and working knowledge of quality management systems
- Understanding of continuous improvement concepts including Six Sigma, Lean, value stream mapping
- SAP operational knowledge
- Ability to respond to changing priorities
- Effective communication of findings and recommendations to team members and stakeholders
