
About this role
With guidance from research management or more senior professionals, ensures research activities in section/group laboratories comply with company safety policies and local, state, federal regulations. Also ensures compliance with environmental policies through responsibilities for reducing waste and promoting protection. This role supports quality assurance in chemical product manufacturing.
Plans and conducts experimental programs to complete project phases of minor scope. Under close supervision, conducts research and testing for improving existing products or developing new ones, including routine to complex synthesis or testing. Performs routine synthesis or testing to gain familiarization with analytical, performance, and physical properties methods.
Interfaces with section personnel to troubleshoot problems with hardware, testing/synthesis equipment, products, and methods development. May handle timely calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment with documentation per company processes. Acquires knowledge of company products, procedures, and applications under guidance of seniors.
Conducts literature searches and gathers information on specific topics with minimal guidance. Compiles, analyzes, and correlates technical data to write timely reports and procedures. Works with research management to formulate goals aligned with executive initiatives and professional growth.
Requirements
- B.S. in Chemistry or related technical field or progression from Assist Chemist
- Effective communication (oral and written) skills
- Proficiency in computer programs for reports and mathematical calculations
- Knowledge of specialized scientific programs for molecular structure drawing, experimental design, and statistics (plus)
