Bureau Veritas, a world leader in testing, inspection and certification services, offers dynamic employment opportunities. The GC Chemist maintains, troubleshoots and repairs GC, GCMS, IC instruments. This role oversees quality control systems to meet branch needs and the Company’s Quality Management System.

Daily tasks include calibrating and operating analytical instrumentation like GC/MS, GC, FTIR. Develop, validate and implement methods such as GC, IC, UV-VIS per standards like D3606, D5599, D4815. Perform maintenance procedures and troubleshoot instrument problems.

Review and maintain QC records, SQC charts and technical data in a professional lab setting. Evaluate safety of working conditions and ensure corrections. Adhere to principles of the scientific method based on education, experience and observation.

Requirements

  • Proficiency with GC, GCMS and IC instrumentation
  • Knowledge of analytical methods like D3606, D4815, D5501, D6730, D6584, D2887
  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing laboratory instruments
  • Familiarity with SQC charts and quality control systems
  • Ability to validate and implement testing procedures
  • Understanding of Quality Management Systems
  • Skills in FTIR, UV-VIS and related techniques
  • Adherence to laboratory safety protocols

Responsibilities

  • Calibrate, maintain and operate analytical instrumentation, GC/MS, GC, FTIR
  • Develop, validate and implement analytical methods (GC, IC, UV-VIS) per methodologies like D3606, D5599, D4815, D5501
  • Perform instrument operation and maintenance procedures, including troubleshooting
  • Review and maintain Quality Control (QC) records and technical data
  • Document and train others in research methodologies
  • Evaluate safety of laboratory working conditions and arrange corrections
  • Monitor, measure and assess quality assurance practices for continual improvement
  • Adhere to Company’s Safety Policy, Procedures and Quality Policy
