The Research Chemist role in the Polyol Technical Service Group provides technical support to sales teams and customers for optimal polyol performance in polyurethane applications. Expect to summarize technical data, prepare reports and presentations, and support product implementation.

Daily responsibilities include offering product recommendations and formulation assistance to customers. Conduct laboratory experiments, product testing, and performance evaluations for application development and troubleshooting. Generate, document, and interpret experimental data in technical reports and presentations.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams including sales, manufacturing, R&D, and product stewardship to address customer needs and business objectives. Create and maintain marketing materials for product lines. Travel to conferences, trade shows, and customer sites to support users and monitor industry trends.

Requirements

  • BS/BA in Chemistry or other related science field
  • 2+ years of technical industry experience in polymer or material science discipline
  • Experience with urethane or urethane raw material chemistry preferred
  • Familiarity with laboratory information management system (LIMS) and data analysis software
  • Experience executing experimental or testing programs within supervisory guidelines
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, both oral and written
  • Functional knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
