About this role

Tata Chemicals seeks a QC Chemist to perform sampling and testing of raw materials and finished products using standard and internal analytical techniques like surface area, oil absorption, and chemical analysis. The role ensures compliance with quality standards in Basic Chemistry and Specialty Chemistry verticals, supporting industries like glass, detergents, and pharma.

Day-to-day duties include collecting data in prescribed formats under information security norms, preparing quality reports and Certificates of Analysis, and maintaining analytical instruments with required calibrations. Adherence to Standard Operating Procedures and Safety, Health, and Environmental practices is essential to eliminate errors and ensure accuracy.

Work as part of a QC team, supporting all activities while fostering positive culture and timely communications with internal and external customers. Apply root cause analysis and corrective actions for problems in analysis or complaints, meeting regulatory and client quality criteria.

Grow by leveraging essential attributes like proficiency in analytical instruments and knowledge of quality standards in demanding environments. Desired skills include modifying analytical procedures and designing experimental protocols per good manufacturing practices, contributing to innovations in nutritional science and green technologies.

Requirements

  • M.Sc. in Chemistry (Analytical, Organic, Inorganic, Physical and Materials)
  • 0 - 5 years of experience in relevant field
  • Highly proficient in the use of key analytical instruments and performing experiments meticulously
  • Thorough knowledge about quality standards, test methods and procedures
  • Ability to work accurately in a demanding environment adhering to strict timelines
  • Experience in Analytical Lab, Environmental Lab, or Quality Management Lab
  • Modify and validate analytical procedures to meet QC requirements
  • Design and development of experimental protocols consistent with good manufacturing practice

Responsibilities

  • Sample and test raw materials and finished products using standard and internal analytical techniques (surface area, oil absorption, chemical analysis, etc.)
  • Collect data in the prescribed format and manage it under prescribed information security norms
  • Prepare quality reports, analytical reports for raw materials and finished products, and Certificates of Analysis (CoA)
  • Observe and comply with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) of the laboratory to eliminate errors
  • Observe and comply with standard Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) practices
  • Maintain analytical instruments, manage inventory of chemicals and laboratory supplies, and calibrate instruments as required
  • Support all QC activities as part of a team and ensure good relations with internal and external customers
  • Apply root cause and corrective action concepts for analysis problems or customer complaints
