About this role

We are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to conduct research into polymers for the manufacture of computer chips. The project is supported by the Australian Research Council Linkage Project and is within the Whittaker Polymer Chemistry Group at AIBN, in partnership with Tokyo Electron America. This offers an exciting opportunity to develop expertise in advanced polymer chemistry.

Key responsibilities include developing and testing new polymers for advanced computer chip manufacture. Produce quality research outputs by publishing in high quality outlets and participate in competitive research funding applications. Work with colleagues on joint projects and contribute to knowledge transfer through commercialisation.

Based at UQ's vibrant St Lucia Campus within the Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology. Work alongside brightest minds from around the world in an environment where interdisciplinary collaborations are encouraged. Engage in supervision of Honours and HDR students plus service roles.

At this level, contribute to service and engagement activities while developing a coherent research program and emerging research profile. Review best practice research methodologies and demonstrate leadership through mentoring. Uphold university values in partnerships and internal committees.

Requirements

  • PhD in polymer chemistry, chemistry, or closely related discipline
  • Expertise in synthesis and testing of polymers for semiconductor applications
  • Experience developing polymers for advanced manufacturing processes
  • Strong track record of research outputs in polymer chemistry
  • Ability to contribute to competitive research funding applications
  • Skills in supervising research students and staff
  • Knowledge of best practice research methodologies in polymer science
  • Familiarity with knowledge transfer and commercialisation processes
