AmegA Sciences plc, part of ICL Group, is an established company of 40 years producing niche products for the fertiliser and surfactant industry in agricultural, horticultural, and amenity sectors. The Senior Research Chemist joins the Research and Development team to create innovative and sustainable solutions for crops and turf management. Focus on improving nutrient and water use efficiency through formulation development.
This primarily laboratory-based position involves designing, planning, and conducting experiments independently to drive new development projects. Perform stability testing of formulations with routine assessments like specific gravity, pH, and viscosity. Conduct analytical testing, product compatibility studies, and document data accurately.
Collaborate closely with R&D colleagues, production, sales, and marketing to ensure successful development and scale-up. Build strong working relationships with Quality and Production teams. Report to the R&D Team Lead in the Daventry facility.
Support troubleshooting and root cause analysis for production issues or customer complaints to improve first-time pass rates. Present and defend project results to internal and external stakeholders. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized laboratory environment while completing COSHH assessments.
Requirements
- BSc Degree in a science-related field (essential), preferably Chemistry
- Previous laboratory experience (desirable)
- Valid UK driving license
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Proactive and flexible approach to work, adapting to changing business priorities
- Excellent communication skills to engage across all levels and with external stakeholders
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team with results-oriented resilience
Responsibilities
- Design, plan, and conduct laboratory experiments independently to drive forward new development projects
- Perform stability testing of formulations, including routine physical and chemical assessments (e.g., specific gravity, pH, viscosity)
- Conduct analytical testing, collect and document data
- Carry out product compatibility studies
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of experiments, results and conclusions
- Present and defend project results to internal and external stakeholders
- Support troubleshooting and root cause analysis for production issues or customer complaints
- Build strong working relationships with Quality, Production, Sales and Marketing teams to facilitate scale-up
