The University of Florida Department of Chemistry invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in polymer chemistry. Exceptional candidates who already hold an assistant or associate professorship will also be considered. The appointment will commence on August 16, 2026.

The successful candidates will be expected to conduct innovative research at the highest level and to establish an outstanding, independent, externally funded research program. We seek candidates with a record of excellence in research and scholarship. They must demonstrate an ability to excel in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

The successful candidate will enjoy the benefits of the Butler Polymer Research Laboratory and the Center for Macromolecular Science and Engineering. UF is located in Gainesville, offering a beautiful climate and extensive nearby parks for year-round outdoor activities.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Chemistry or a closely related field
  • Record of excellence in research and scholarship
  • Ability to excel in teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels
  • Postdoctoral experience desirable
  • Expertise in polymer chemistry research
  • Demonstrated potential for independent research program
  • Experience developing externally funded projects

Responsibilities

  • Conduct innovative research at the highest level in polymer chemistry
