As an intern at IFF, you will join the Tilburg Analytical Services R&D group, focused on delivering high-quality analytical solutions and results to support R&D projects and commercial initiatives. You will conduct laboratory bench experiments, prepare samples, and perform analytical testing using Gas Chromatography (GC), High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS), and Gas Chromatography-Flame Ionization Detection (GC-FID).
You will be part of an innovative, detail-oriented, collaborative, and passionate team where together we can achieve greatness and make a real impact. The role is based onsite in Tilburg, Netherlands, within the Taste & Scent business, which crafts distinctive sensory experiences through science, creativity, and innovation.
You will contribute to cutting-edge analytical chemistry research while gaining valuable industry experience in a global innovation environment. This internship offers the opportunity to develop practical laboratory, analytical, and data interpretation skills while working alongside experienced scientists supporting world-class Taste and Scent products.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Food Science, or a related scientific discipline.
- Strong interest in analytical chemistry and laboratory-based research.
- Basic understanding of chromatographic techniques such as Gas Chromatography (GC) and Liquid Chromatography (LC).
- Familiarity with analytical instrumentation and laboratory practices.
- Interest in mass spectrometry and/or laboratory automation technologies.
- Ability to analyze data and draw clear conclusions from experimental results.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality scientific work.
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively within a team.
Responsibilities
- Conduct laboratory bench experiments in support of analytical research projects.
- Prepare samples and perform analytical testing using Gas Chromatography (GC), High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS), and Gas Chromatography-Flame Ionization Detection (GC-FID).
- Support activities related to laboratory automation and robotics.
- Set up and execute experiments following established protocols and scientific best practices.
- Acquire, process, and interpret analytical data in a timely and accurate manner.
- Assist in troubleshooting technical and analytical challenges encountered during testing.
- Document experimental procedures, observations, and results clearly and accurately.
- Collaborate with scientists and researchers to support ongoing R&D and commercial projects.
