Cresilon® is a Brooklyn-based biotechnology company that develops, manufactures, and markets hemostatic medical devices utilizing proprietary hydrogel technology. The Scientist leads product design and development activities related to polymer materials development and their use, with compliance to all quality and regulatory requirements. This role focuses on formulation development, characterization, prototype design, fabrication, and data generation through designed experiments.
The Scientist works in a multidisciplinary team of researchers in a highly collaborative environment across multiple functions. Responsibilities include exercising technical judgment in experiment design, execution, and interpretation to solve complex problems creatively. Daily tasks involve processing and analyzing results for in-vitro replicability and leading material changes through design control.
As a subject matter expert on polymer formulation, material science, and characterization, the Scientist develops structure-property relationship understandings in biological systems. They drive adherence to high standards of research work and create documentation for regulatory submissions and grant strategies. The role requires flexibility to learn new technologies and explore techniques for product innovation.
This full-time, on-site position in Brooklyn, New York, offers opportunities to secure non-dilutive funding, communicate with the Director of Research, and contribute to veterinary, human trauma, and surgical applications. The level is contingent on education and prior industry experiences, supporting mission to save lives through revolutionary plant-based technology.
Requirements
- Subject matter expertise in polymer formulation and material science
- Proficiency in material characterization techniques
- Understanding of structure-property relationships in biological systems
- Experience leading formulation development and prototype design
- Knowledge of designed experiments and data generation for product innovation
- Familiarity with GLP/GMP guidelines for laboratory documentation
- Ability to author documentation for regulatory submissions and grants
- Technical judgment for solving complex problems in polymer materials research
Responsibilities
- Create and lead experimentation for exploratory and product development research with a focus on polymeric materials and their use
- Exercise technical judgment in the design, execution, and interpretation of experiments to solve complex problems creatively
- Process and analyze results to interpret data towards in-vitro replicability
- Lead material/design/process changes through design control process with well-documented research/analyses
- Author protocols and reports including development studies and design verification/validation activities
- Develop and execute test methods for exploratory research, product development, and quality control; conduct chemical and mechanical property evaluation tests
- Prepare samples for testing, evaluations, and data analysis
- Interface with customers, suppliers, and internal cross-functional team members to develop specifications and coordinate prototype fabrication
