GRCC seeks faculty passionate about diverse student populations from varied ages, ethnicities, national origins, and abilities. They develop innovative teaching strategies, assess student learning outcomes, and commit to lifelong learning. Faculty provide service to students, the college, and community.

Teach organic chemistry lectures and labs, plus other Physical Sciences department courses. Develop instruction plans for online and in-person formats using high-impact practices. Coordinate adjunct faculty teams and incorporate lab instrumentation maintenance.

Faculty collaborate within the School of STEM and Physical Sciences Department, attending meetings and participating in committees. They use outstanding communication, initiative to meet deadlines, and align with GRCC values. Reports to Associate Dean, School of STEM.

Engage in professional development for chemistry pedagogy, advise STEM students on careers, and mentor through projects. Assist in curriculum development, evaluation, revision, and benchmarking for transferability. Adhere to Faculty Contract standards.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Chemistry with an emphasis in organic and/or biochemistry
  • Master’s Degree in a related field with at least 18 graduate credits in Chemistry including organic chemistry graduate courses
  • Ph.D. in Chemistry or Chemical Education preferred with organic or biochemistry concentration
  • Experience teaching organic chemistry or biochemistry at the college or university level required
  • Minimum of two years full-time or equivalent teaching experience preferred
  • Experience teaching organic chemistry or biochemistry at the community college level preferred
  • Experience using multi-media, computers

Responsibilities

  • Teach organic chemistry lectures and labs
  • Develop and implement teaching techniques that employ high impact practices
  • Teach other chemistry courses offered in the Physical Sciences department
  • Develop plans of instruction for both online and in-person modalities
  • Provide leadership through the coordination of teams of adjunct faculty for both lecture and laboratory courses
  • Advise students on academic programs and careers related to the STEM fields
  • Engage in professional development and continuous improvement to pedagogy related to the field of chemistry
  • Assist in course and curriculum development, evaluation, and revision
