About this role
Are you looking for an interesting role where you can use your analytical chemistry skills and experience to contribute to post-approval surveillance monitoring of pesticide residues in food? An opportunity has arisen to join the Pesticide Residue in Food (PRiF) Team within the Chemistry Section at SASA. The PRiF monitoring programme is required as part of the national pesticide regime.
As an Analytical Chemist, assist in the chemical analysis of samples submitted as part of PRiF using a variety of analytical techniques. SASA’s Chemistry laboratory is ISO 17025 accredited, requiring work within these quality parameters to generate valid results. This promotes confidence in the laboratory's work as one of the official laboratories for food surveys.
The post-holder will be part of a team of analytical chemists with good communication skills to ensure deadlines and quality standards are met. Carry out pesticide analysis for several food surveys each year, contributing to food safety and good agricultural practice. Perform tasks including sample receipt, extraction, data processing, and result tabulation.
Work with a variety of analytical systems, scrutinise data and instrument performance, and resolve non-compliance issues. Keep accurate records in compliance with ISO 17025, local quality management, and health & safety procedures. Monitor laboratory equipment to ensure conformance with quality assurance requirements.
