In this role, you’ll work at the forefront of polymer science—designing, synthesizing, and testing new materials that improve performance while advancing sustainability goals. You’ll contribute to high-impact projects creating the next generation of polymers for the Tissue and Towel market. Collaborate with a talented team within a global organization.

Day-to-day involves conducting theoretical and experimental research, performing polymer synthesis, characterization, and performance evaluation. Analyze and interpret data, then communicate insights to technical and business stakeholders. Contribute across multiple R&D programs from concept through application.

Grow into a technical leader by supervising and mentoring junior team members, publishing in scientific journals, and presenting at conferences. Build deep expertise in a key technology area and document outcomes for patents. Thrive in a collaborative research environment fostering innovation and leadership.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry, or a related field
  • Hands-on experience in polymer or organic synthesis
  • Strong understanding of polymer/material characterization techniques
  • Familiarity with analytical chemistry or aqueous system chemistry
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving ability with a scientific and pragmatic approach
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop novel polymers for tissue and towel applications
  • Conduct both theoretical and experimental research to generate new scientific and technological knowledge
  • Perform polymer synthesis, characterization, and performance evaluation
  • Analyze and interpret experimental data; communicate insights to technical and business stakeholders
  • Contribute to multiple R&D programs from concept through application
  • Publish research findings in scientific journals and present at conferences
  • Supervise, mentor, and coach laboratory assistants and junior team members
  • Collaborate across disciplines within the Research function
