About this role

We are seeking a Process or Chemical Engineer to support qualification and operational readiness efforts for a small molecule GMP facility. This hands-on role focuses on assessing equipment setup, supporting start-up and qualification activities, and developing practical operating procedures for safe kilo- to pilot-scale synthetic operations. The position runs from July 13th to December 11th, 2026.

Daily work involves evaluating inherited pilot-scale and kilo-lab equipment, identifying capability gaps, risks, and remediation actions. Operate jacketed and glass-lined reactors, filtration and drying systems, TFF systems, and chromatography systems. Troubleshoot mechanical and process performance issues while establishing safe operating envelopes.

Collaborate closely with senior personnel in Process Chemistry Development, Engineering, QA, and EHS to bring equipment into reliable and compliant operation. Partner on risk assessments to ensure safe execution of scale-up activities. Contribute to SOPs, equipment operating procedures, batch records, and cleaning strategies.

This site-based role thrives in environments with incomplete documentation and evolving systems. Enable small molecule GMP and non-GMP production readiness through practical recommendations and commissioning support. Gain exposure to biotech operational realities at Moderna.
