About this role

We are looking for a Research Fellow to work in the area of polymer characterisation, including polymeric material and self-assembled polymer particle characterisation. The project will be hosted in the groups of Prof. Rachel O’Reilly and Prof. Andrew Dove in the School of Chemistry. The post holder will support laboratory running and research project delivery in polymer science.

Responsibilities include characterising data collection and interpretation using techniques such as NMR spectroscopy, GPC, DSC, DMTA, light scattering, TEM and AFM. Training will be provided in component techniques, but experience in several aspects is required. A practical mindset with focus on problem solving and hands-on laboratory work is essential.

The School of Chemistry is a vibrant community with over 130 academic and research staff and state-of-the-art facilities including a new molecular sciences research building. It offers an inclusive and supportive environment focused on research themes like Energy, Sustainability, Environment and Health. Ambitious expansion plans support career potential for all staff.

The role offers opportunities to contribute to research strategies, co-supervise Masters students and develop supervisory skills. Participate in outreach or teaching activities to support the scientific health of the School. Demonstrate academic citizenship through mutually respectful and supportive working relationships.
