The manager oversees development, validation, and implementation of analytical methods like HPLC, GC, GC-MS, LC-MS, ICP, and NMR. Responsibilities include designing automated systems such as robotics and automated LC-MS, plus integrating with LIMS and ELN. AI-driven tools speed up data interpretation and chromatography optimization.
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Physical Sciences, the role manages the analytical chemistry portfolio and annual programs. Requirements
- Expertise in analytical methods including HPLC, GC, GC-MS, LC-MS, ICP, NMR
- Experience leading lab-based scientists in analytical chemistry
- Proficiency in high-throughput instruments and automation systems like robotics and automated LC-MS
- Knowledge of LIMS, ELN integration, and AI-driven data analysis
- Skills in method validation, troubleshooting, and ensuring data integrity
- Understanding of regulatory standards and compliance in analytical chemistry
- Ability to manage teams, performance, and talent pipelines
Responsibilities
- Deliver safe and compliant experimental operations and support HSSE culture
- Manage the portfolio in analytical chemistry
- Lead development, optimisation, and validation of analytical methods (HPLC, GC, GC-MS, LC-MS, ICP, NMR)
- Oversee routine testing and troubleshoot complex issues
- Oversee design, build, and deployment of high-throughput analytical automation systems (e.g., automated LC-MS, robotics)
- Integrate analytical workflows with LIMS and ELN
- Implement AI and advanced software for method development, data interpretation, and chromatography optimisation
- Develop, manage, and deliver the team’s annual programme according to resources and priorities
