About this role

The Analytical Chemist conducts analytical testing on raw materials, longitudinal and accelerated stability, in-process, finished bulk, and finished products. Responsibilities include designing and implementing new processes, validations, and instrumentation as required. Testing complies with cGMP while supporting lab management in a high-quality environment.

Prepare samples for testing and perform physical and chemical analyses using wet-chemistry and instrumental techniques. Operate and maintain instruments including HPLC, GC-FID, GCMS, TOC, EDX, UV-vis, and FTIR. Conduct daily and monthly calibrations to ensure instruments function properly.

Work closely as a team to complete tasks timely, monitor product quality for compliance, and communicate with other departments on production and stability goals. Follow Standard Operating Procedures, USP, ISO, ASTM methods precisely. Maintain accurate laboratory notebooks and records.

Participate in and lead OOS investigations, troubleshoot instrumentation, and coordinate with vendors for maintenance. Train and mentor new and existing personnel on SOPs and techniques. Write SOPs for new processes and serve as a technical resource for annual reviews.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of laboratory equipment set-up and operation, common laboratory techniques and safe chemical handling
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and manage deadlines accordingly
  • Exceptional attention to detail and high level of accuracy and organization
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to lead, mentor, and teach other personnel
  • Knowledge and practical experience with common analytical laboratory instrumentation (HPLC, GC-FID, UV-vis, FTIR)

Responsibilities

  • Prepare samples for testing on raw materials, in-process, and finished products
  • Perform physical and chemical testing in accordance with standard procedures, utilizing wet-chemistry and instrumental techniques
  • Operate and maintain scientific instruments including HPLC, GC-FID, GCMS, TOC, EDX, UV-vis, and FTIR
  • Perform daily/monthly instrument calibrations to ensure all instruments are working properly
  • Write, review, and execute validations of assay methods
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date and concise laboratory notebooks and records
  • Monitor product quality to ensure compliance to standards and specifications
  • Participate in/lead OOS investigations and troubleshoot instrumentation as needed
