About this role

The Department of Chemistry at the University of Florida invites applications for a 12-month, full-time non-tenure track position at the rank of Lecturer with working title of Assistant Instructional Professor in Analytical Chemistry, beginning August 16, 2025. The successful candidate will teach analytical and general chemistry courses and associated laboratories at the undergraduate level. Teaching faculty are fully integrated into the department.

Daily responsibilities include maintaining instrumentation in teaching laboratories, developing effective pedagogical materials and course curriculum including electronic course management and online material. The role involves managing and training graduate teaching assistants, sustaining an appropriate safety culture, and mentoring undergraduate students. Collaboration with faculty in and outside the department is expected.

Candidates must have a background in Chemistry or a closely related discipline with an excellent record of teaching and academic accomplishments. There is a strong emphasis on interest in undergraduate teaching in chemistry, one of the largest chemistry departments in the country. The position supports participation in department, university, and professional service activities.

Submission of proposals focused on chemistry education will be encouraged, fostering creativity in chemistry education. Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Chemistry or a closely related discipline
  • Demonstrable expertise in teaching at the university level
  • Excellent record of teaching
