About this role

Huntsman is seeking an Analytical Chemist – NMR Spectroscopist supporting the Advanced Materials Division located in HATC, Texas. This position reports to the Senior Manager Testing Services and provides advanced analytical support using Nuclear Magnetic Resonance spectroscopy. The focus is on acquiring and interpreting NMR data for reliable results.

The role involves performing one- and two-dimensional solution-state NMR analysis for structure elucidation, quantitative analysis, and troubleshooting. Additional duties include FTIR qualitative and quantitative analysis across sample matrices. Maintenance of instruments and use of LIMS tools are also key components of daily work.

Work occurs in a laboratory environment focused on advanced analytical testing with specialized NMR and FTIR equipment. The position requires collaboration with cross-functional teams and business groups while adhering to Environmental, Health, and Safety standards.

Opportunities exist to refine NMR techniques and support broader analytical workflows using SQL and Crystal Reports. The role contributes directly to product characterization and problem-solving efforts across Huntsman business groups.

Requirements

  • Master’s or PhD in Chemistry.
  • 7+ years of relevant experience in a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of organic chemistry to support product characterization and problem-solving.
  • Experience with Bruker TopSpin software.
  • Experience with VNMRJ software (Linux platform).
  • Experience with enterprise LIMS, SQL, and Crystal Reports.
  • Proficiency with Internet, email, and Microsoft Office programs.
  • Unrestricted right to work for Huntsman in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and refine one- and two-dimensional solution-state NMR analysis for structure elucidation, quantitative analysis, and troubleshooting.
  • Conduct routine maintenance of NMR instruments, including cryogen fills.
  • Perform FTIR qualitative and quantitative analysis to support problem-solving across a variety of sample matrices.
  • Conduct routine maintenance of FTIR instruments, including performance testing and verification.
  • Utilize LabWorks Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and data analysis tools (SQL, Crystal Reports) to support reporting and workflow optimization.
  • Support other employees in achieving Huntsman company goals.
  • Participate in Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) initiatives as set forth by the company.
