About this role

The Analytical Chemist I performs physical tests on raw materials and work-in-process samples at a client's manufacturing facility. This non-exempt role reports to the GM or Director and typically involves Monday through Friday, 40-hour weeks with flexibility for department needs. Daily tasks include performing physical testing using prescribed methods and standards, preparing samples and equipment for testing, and conducting quality and safety checks. Analysts maintain and calibrate lab equipment, ensure lab cleanliness, restock reagents and consumables, and prepare stock solutions. They accurately record test data in electronic or handwritten notebooks in a timely manner.

Testing occurs in coordination with clients, coworkers, and under management supervision. Escalate troubleshooting, safety, instrument, and technical issues promptly to appropriate contacts. Adhere to client guidelines, Bureau Veritas Quality, Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental policies, plus the Quality Manual and Chemical Hygiene Plan.

Support quality and continuous improvement projects, perform basic data analysis, and assist with training if qualified. Prepare written technical reports and learn client LIMS system. Demonstrate flexibility for rotational schedules to support 24/7 operations and handle other duties as assigned by client sponsor or department.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of GMP regulations, preferred
  • Written and verbal communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively in a group setting, with colleagues and clients
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to organize and prioritize workload to meet or exceed deadlines
  • Proficiency with Windows, Word & Excel
  • Attention to detail
  • Positive attitude, self-motivated, high level of engagement

  • Prepare a variety of samples for testing using prescribed testing methods, following standards/specifications
  • Maintain and calibrate lab equipment as required
  • Maintain lab cleanliness and restock reagents and consumables
  • Accurately report and record test data in electronic notebook or handwritten notebooks as needed
  • Perform quality and safety checks on samples submitted prior to testing
  • Support Quality and continuous improvement projects for facility
  • Identify and escalate issues to clients and management
