About this role
GE Vernova Advanced Research seeks a Lead Scientist with capabilities in synthetic organic and/or inorganic chemistry to conduct research on polymeric and organic systems. This includes wet coating formulation and applications development such as drop coating, dip coating, spray coating, additive materials, and optical materials for industrial challenges. The role involves new material composition development, synthesis, scale-up, characterization, and performance evaluation.
Daily work focuses on conducting and leading basic and applied research in small organic and polymeric materials, polymer composites, inorganic materials synthesis, and wet coating processes. Responsibilities include component design, material testing, process optimization, and fabricating functional systems through slurry and binder formulations on additively-manufactured components. Design and execute experiments to identify technical breakthroughs and improve system performance.
Join a multidisciplinary team at GE Vernova’s Advanced Research Center, comprising 300+ researchers across scientific and engineering disciplines. Collaborate with technologists, product managers, and external partners including academia, national labs, and industry to align with market needs. Build relationships to leverage expertise and maximize impact on energy businesses.
Pursue external opportunities by writing proposals as principal investigator and leading IP strategy, disclosures, and patent applications. Contribute to technical papers, publications, and presentations for stakeholders. Help develop sustainable solutions for the Energy Transition, decarbonization, renewables, and a zero-carbon energy future.
