About this role
The Development Chemist I supports peptide manufacturing by executing chemical synthesis, purification, and drying processes under established procedures and occasional supervision. This role monitors reactions, prepares solutions, operates HPLC systems, and performs in-process checks to ensure product quality. It upholds strict safety and cleanliness standards while aiding troubleshooting.
Daily tasks include checking reactor systems per SOP, measuring and mixing ingredients according to the BPR under direction. Chemists monitor chemical reactions for color and completeness, responding appropriately to maintain processing. They perform intermediate steps, prepare purification solutions, and conduct lyophilization and drying.
Purification involves using HPLC systems under occasional supervision to process crude peptides. In-process fractions undergo analytical HPLC checks, with results reported to supervision or senior chemists. Basic Go-No Go decisions guide processing, and equipment issues are reported with basic troubleshooting.
This position operates in a GMP manufacturing or laboratory environment, contributing to PolyPeptide’s quality and on-time delivery commitments. Team collaboration occurs under occasional supervision, fostering adaptability in shifting priorities. It emphasizes precise documentation and safety housekeeping for reliable peptide production.
