About this role

As Senior Polymer Chemist, manage and deliver short- and long-term development projects within the Functional Polymer and Personal Care Technologies Development team. Contribute to creating new and improved products. Provide hands-on technical support to operational optimisation initiatives.

Lead product development projects from formulation through scale-up. Drive initiatives for new products, raw material substitution, and plant-to-plant transfers. Ensure all projects meet timelines, objectives, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.

Offer technical support to manufacturing sites, resolving production and quality issues. Support new product introductions. Collaborate closely with R&D, commercial teams, customers, suppliers, and industry bodies.

Share expertise to solve challenges and drive performance in specialist areas. Maintain awareness of IP and legislative considerations. Manage multiple projects, prioritise effectively, and meet tight deadlines.

Requirements

Degree (or equivalent) in Chemistry or a related field, with proven polymer R&D experience from lab to production scale
Strong data analysis skills, including confident use of Excel and analytical tools
Experience managing multiple projects, prioritising effectively and meeting tight deadlines
Hands-on experience in polymer formulation and scale-up for functional polymers
Knowledge of regulatory requirements and IP considerations in chemical development
Technical expertise in resolving manufacturing quality issues

Responsibilities

Collaborate closely with R&D, commercial teams and external stakeholders, maintaining awareness of IP and legislative considerations and representing the business with customers, suppliers and industry bodies
