About this role

Church & Dwight seeks a Research Chemist to support the Fabric Care Performance Additive business. This role drives the design, development, and optimization of new and existing fabric care additive formulations from concept through commercialization. It supports innovation and lifecycle management across the portfolio.

The Research Chemist leads formulation development and product optimization initiatives using technical expertise and data-driven problem solving. Responsibilities include analyzing experimental data, providing technical recommendations, and maintaining accurate documentation. The role manages multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

This position partners cross-functionally with Marketing, Packaging, Manufacturing, Quality, Regulatory, Safety, Legal, and Consumer Relations. It serves as technical project leader and subject matter expert for assigned initiatives. Collaboration ensures successful product development and commercialization.

Based in Princeton, NJ, the hybrid work environment requires in-person attendance Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, with remote options Mondays and Fridays. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related scientific discipline
  • 4+ years of laboratory experience
  • Experience in product development
  • Strong technical knowledge, creativity, and problem-solving capabilities
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage multiple priorities
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and data integrity
  • Agile mindset with the ability to adapt to changing priorities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Design, formulate, and develop new and existing consumer product formulations from concept through commercialization
  • Analyze experimental data, provide technical recommendations, and maintain accurate documentation and reporting of results
  • Independently manage multiple projects, timelines, and priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Translate technical findings into clear, concise insights and presentations for cross-functional stakeholders and leadership
  • Support marketed products to ensure operational continuity and maintain competitiveness within the category
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Marketing, Packaging, Manufacturing, Quality, Regulatory, Safety, Legal, and Consumer Relations teams
  • Serve as technical project leader and subject matter expert for assigned initiatives
  • Provide direction and oversight to temporary employees as needed
