About this role
GSK is a global biopharma company uniting science, technology and talent to get ahead of disease together. This full-time, 6-month co-op position is located in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Focus on the development and synthesis of DNA-encoded libraries within the Encoded Technologies platform.
Primary focus involves synthesis and design of new compounds following DNA-encoded library screening. Perform small molecule design and synthesis post-DEL screening. Work on organic chemistry methodology and synthesis tasks daily.
Join the Encoded Technologies team to gain insight into the broader aspects of the DEL technology platform. Requirements
- Pursuing a Masters or PhD in Chemistry or similar disciplines
- Sufficient theoretical understanding and laboratory experience in organic chemistry (methodology and/or synthesis)
- Skills in synthesis, purification, and characterization of organic compounds
- Able to work full-time (35-40 hours/week) throughout 6-month co-op (January ~ June 2026)
- Active student status and/or within 12 months post-graduation from a BS or MS degree program
- Broad knowledge of organic reactions, recent methodologies, reaction mechanisms
- Awareness of recent developments in relevant literature
- Interest in DNA-encoded libraries and associated techniques
Responsibilities
- Synthesize new compounds following DNA-encoded library screening
- Design small molecules for drug discovery applications
- Develop and synthesize DNA-encoded libraries
- Purify organic compounds using standard techniques
- Characterize organic compounds
- Apply organic chemistry methodology in laboratory settings
- Contribute to Encoded Technologies platform activities
