Requirements
- Extensive experience in organic synthesis in a manufacturing or research laboratory
- Demonstrated proficiency in reaction optimization, troubleshooting, and experimental design
- Capable of performing bench science activities and developing self-directed work plans and synthesis procedures
- Ability to influence without direct authority using training, experience, and people/leadership skills
- Legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
- Able to pass a comprehensive background check, which includes a drug screen
- Broad scientific knowledge and analytical expertise in organic chemistry
Responsibilities
- Work with the closest attention to personal and co-worker safety and follow all department policies on process equipment, chemical handling, and waste disposal
- Perform multi-step organic synthesis (100 mg to 500 g scale) in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Review historical manufacturing records, analyze and interpret scientific data to determine processes for work orders
- Identify opportunities to resolve process issues and drive improvements in safety, quality, cost, and delivery
- Follow the planned manufacturing schedule and develop individual weekly schedules to complete assigned work on time
- Participate in training and mentoring team members in standard lab practices, technical skills, troubleshooting, and safe practices
- Offer technical guidance, mentoring, and direction to team members
- Identify opportunities for chemistry process improvement in collaboration with the team
