The SG Corporate Technology team focuses on innovation solutions through partnerships and ecosystem. Seeking a team member with strong background in polymer engineering for engineering plastics and rubbers.
This role drives innovation via whitepapers, landscaping advisories, research projects, and tech scouting. Application fields include formulation, processing, metrology for connectors, cables, microfluidics, plus emerging smart materials, sustainability, and AI trends. Develop deep understanding through reviews, experimental trials, and scouting.
Engage TE business units to address technical needs in plastics and rubbers. Lead partnership research on characterization, formulation, processing for connectors, sealants, cables, microfluidics. Collaborate with other TE polymer centers of innovation for alignment.
Author whitepapers, technology landscaping reports, advisory documents to support strategic objectives. Manage projects from concept to execution, including partner selection and compliance. Represent SG team in conferences and management presentations to share polymer engineering innovations.
Requirements
- Ph.D. or Master’s degree in Polymer Engineering, Material Science, or a related field.
- 5-8 years of experience in R&D or product development, with focus on engineering plastics and rubbers, including material characterization, formulation, and processing.
- Proven experience leading technical projects involving advanced polymers and rubbers in industrial or corporate setting.
- Familiarity with polymer engineering tools and methodologies such as material characterization techniques, formulation strategies, and processing technologies.
- Experience scouting technology state-of-the-art through literature, patent landscapes, or conferences.
- Knowledge of engineering project management (scope, deliverables) and technical tools (e.g., Moldflow, FA, RCA).
- Effective verbal and written communication; proficiency in Mandarin is a plus.
- Experience or certification with contract law advantageous.
Responsibilities
- Engage TE BUs to identify and address technical needs related to engineering plastics and rubbers.
- Develop a deep understanding of engineering plastics and rubbers through comprehensive reviews, experimental trials, and tech scouting.
- Lead partnership research activities related to characterization, formulation, and processing of plastics and rubbers for connectors, sealants, cables, and microfluidics.
- Author whitepapers, technology landscaping reports, and advisory documents to support TE’s strategic objectives and launch proof-of-concept projects.
- Manage projects from initial concept through execution, including scope definition, partner selection, and project management.
- Oversee internal project documentation and compliance matters, including contracts, budget tracking, and technical reporting.
- Represent SG team in technical conferences and senior management presentations to share knowledge and innovations.
- Collaborate with other TE polymer centers of innovation to drive alignment of SG activities.
