About this role

At Roche you develop enzymes for internal and external use by creating tailor-made biocatalysts and biological targets. Combining expression profiling, cell cultivation, enzyme purification, engineering and biochemical investigations improves or designs new enzymes across the full value chain for diagnostics and pharma.

As Postdoc in Novel Enzymes you actively shape new enzyme development with biotechnological and bioinformatic methods. You join an innovative research team that builds a dry-lab to wet-lab platform for customized enzymes used in diagnostics and patient health applications.

You work cross-functionally with Roche diagnostic and pharma divisions worldwide while maintaining close contacts with clients and production. This R&D role ensures fast, high-quality development that delivers functional products on the complete Roche platform.

The two-year position lets you translate scientific ideas into practice and pursue continuous education through relevant scientific literature. You contribute directly to improving patient health by advancing enzyme technology from concept to application.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in a relevant field
  • Specialized knowledge in protein engineering, bioinformatics, and molecular biology
  • Knowledge in recombinant protein expression, protein purification, and development of protein analytical methods
  • Experience in microbiology, downstream and upstream processing, or chemistry is an advantage
  • Willingness to provide consultation and troubleshooting regarding enzyme challenges

Responsibilities

  • Develop new enzymes using a combination of biotechnological and bioinformatic methods
  • Independently produce tailored proteins and enzymes using molecular biological methods
  • Establish new production and screening methods for protein variants
  • Consolidate a platform from dry-lab to wet-lab for protein engineering of novel enzymes
  • Implement new biochemical and biophysical readouts for screening and development of tailored enzymes
  • Provide consultation and troubleshooting on enzyme challenges in Research & Development and Production
