In this onsite laboratory role at South San Francisco, work within Amgen’s Induced Proximity Platform (IPP) on novel approaches using the PROTAC modality to modulate intractable targets. Devise state-of-the-art research through laboratory experiments and detailed project planning with timelines and milestones. Analyze scientific data and provide regular updates on results.

Requirements

Doctorate degree and 2 years of scientific experience or Master's degree and 5 years or Bachelor's degree and 7 years
Doctorate degree in chemistry specializing in organic chemistry and 6+ years of experience in synthetic organic and medicinal chemistry
Experience leading medicinal chemistry teams and delivering candidates for clinical development
Extensive track record of drug discovery accomplishments including patent inventor-ship, conference presentations, and peer-reviewed publications
Deep understanding of drug discovery and relevant disciplines such as chemistry, biology, safety, and PKDM
Expert in modern medicinal and synthetic chemistry approaches
Demonstrated experience managing direct reports
Excellent collaboration and communication skills both written and oral

Responsibilities

Design, synthesize, and purify novel compounds for potential clinical drug development
Work within Amgen’s Induced Proximity Platform (IPP) using PROTAC modality for intractable targets
Devise and implement state-of-the-art scientific research through conducting laboratory experiments
Plan detailed procedures for projects including timelines, milestones, methodological approaches, and resources
Review, analyze, and interpret scientific data and results
Provide regular updates, documentation, and communication on project results
Collaborate with other scientists and maintain currency with literature and technology developments
Advise supervisors and colleagues, participate in meetings, support publications or patents, and mentor research associates
