About this role

You perform routine analytical measurements in a specialized laboratory supporting carbon capture technology development. Daily work centers on porosimetry, elemental analysis, and titration methods to generate reliable data for materials characterization.

Responsibilities include calibrating instruments on schedule, validating equipment performance, and conducting routine maintenance and troubleshooting. You also assist with new equipment installation and modifications while keeping detailed records of all lab activities.

The role operates within an international, interdisciplinary team focused on direct air capture solutions. You maintain clean workspaces, update SOPs and safety documentation, and contribute to ongoing improvements in laboratory workflows and EH&S practices.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in chemistry or a closely related field; laboratory technician apprenticeship training also encouraged.
  • Background or strong interest in materials science or the carbon capture space is a plus.
  • Familiar with listed analytical techniques and motivated to further develop practical laboratory skills.
  • Work in a structured and reliable manner while paying close attention to detail with a proactive, hands-on mindset.
  • Follow and adhere to all HSE requirements with a genuine passion for maintaining a safe laboratory environment.
  • Fluent in English and comfortable working in an international, interdisciplinary environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine sample measurements using porosimetry (BET, mercury intrusion), elemental analysis, and titration methods.
  • Calibrate analytical equipment and perform instrument validations according to recommended schedules.
  • Support troubleshooting activities and carry out routine maintenance of analytical instruments.
  • Maintain a clean and organized laboratory workspace and contribute to improvements in laboratory workflows.
  • Maintain accurate laboratory documentation including SOPs, shutdown procedures, and error logs.
  • Assist with installation of new equipment and modification of existing lab instrumentation.
  • Contribute to creating and updating laboratory policies and procedures related to daily operations.
  • Support EH&S responsibilities including workplace risk assessments, safety documentation, audits, and safety training.
