About this role

At Parexel, we share the goal to improve the world's health through clinical development solutions underpinned by deep conviction. We seek a Principal Scientist as a full-time FSP employee onsite at our client in Rahway, NJ. This laboratory-based role offers full benefits, sick time, 401K, paid holidays, and paid time off; no sponsorship available.

The Chemical Engineering R&D department needs a motivated chemist to develop and optimize chemical process steps using unit operations like reactions, extractions, distillations, crystallizations, filtrations, and drying. Work spans scales from grams to multi-kilogram to understand scale-up issues and improve robustness, quality, safety, yield, and environmental footprint. Troubleshoot, optimize, and deliver intermediates or APIs as part of project teams advancing new APIs through the R&D pipeline.

Daily work involves hands-on lab execution with various chemicals, manual and automated reactors, equipment, and process/analytical instruments in a fast-paced environment. Desk tasks include planning, analysis, documentation of experiments, and writing clear concise reports. Adhere to safety and Good Laboratory Practices while working accurately with minimal supervision.

This role provides fast-paced, hands-on research demanding high technical skills and contributions toward chemical processes in specialty chemical and pharmaceutical industries. Contribute personally with empathy to therapies benefiting patients. Join teams combining multiple chemical steps from early through late-stage development.
