Bothell, US · Full-time · $124,400 – $207,400

About this role

Pfizer's purpose is to deliver breakthroughs that change patients' lives, and at the core of this mission is Research and Development. As a Senior Principal Scientist in Process Chemistry, you will translate advanced science into impactful therapies and vaccines, working across all facets of development from small-scale synthesis to commercial synthetic routes.

In this role, you will lead technical teams to design, execute, and interpret complex laboratory experiments aimed at route development, process optimization, and scale-up. You will develop fit-for-purpose processes for early- and late-stage programs, ensuring safety, robustness, and scalability while applying modern synthetic organic chemistry principles and high-throughput experimentation.

You will drive alignment to project timelines and portfolio strategy, effectively communicating scientific strategy, risks, and solutions to project teams, leadership, and partner functions. The role involves leading technology transfer and partner interactions to enable external development campaigns, as well as building strong stakeholder relationships across process chemistry and partner functions.

This position offers the opportunity to maintain an external technical presence through publications and presentations, and to mentor junior staff in an inclusive, scientifically rigorous, and collaborative environment. You will lead authorship of patents, publications, and regulatory documents, fostering a culture that promotes innovation and improves outcomes for patients and healthcare.
