About this role
As the Organic Chemistry Lead within bp's Fuels & Low Carbon Technology group, you will drive fundamental and exploratory studies in organic synthesis and bio-feedstock conversions. This role reports to the Applied Chemistry Manager and is central to supporting bp's low carbon growth across biofuels, SAF, biogas, hydrogen, and novel feedstocks.
Day-to-day, you will lead experimental programmes in organic synthesis, designing and executing safe, standards-adherent laboratory work. Your hands-on expertise in synthesis, retrosynthesis, and methodology development will directly shape new conversion technologies and the appraisal of emerging processes.
You will join a global team of over 300 technologists, scientists, and engineers collaborating across bp's technology function. The Bioenergy & Hydrogen Technology team provides a dynamic environment where innovation from early-stage concepts through deployment-ready solutions is the norm, supported by academic research partnerships and digital science.
This role offers tremendous learning and development opportunities to craft your career path alongside an open and inclusive culture. You will contribute to bp's ambitious energy transition goals while benefiting from excellent working conditions and a strong emphasis on work-life balance.
