Applications are invited for a position in bio-organic chemistry at open rank. We are seeking candidates with outstanding credentials and demonstrated leadership skills. This search is part of a multi-hire initiative to enhance the Department of Chemistry at Tulane.

The candidate will take advantage of the close proximity of the Department of Chemistry to the Medical School, the Primate Center, and engineering departments of Tulane. The candidate should demonstrate commitment to teaching excellence. Competitive startup funds will be provided.

Tulane is a private university with approximately 9000 undergraduate and an equal number of graduate and professional students. The university has 9 schools including Science and Engineering, Medicine, Public Health, Law and Business. The Chemistry Department is part of the School of Science and Engineering with strong research ties within the school and with the School of Medicine.

Applicants must submit a cover letter summarizing their background, a curriculum vita with a list of publications, and a summary of their research plans (five pages maximum). Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead a research program in bio-organic chemistry
  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in organic and bio-organic chemistry
  • Mentor graduate and undergraduate research students
  • Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals
  • Secure external research funding through grants
  • Collaborate with researchers in Medical School, Primate Center, and engineering departments
  • Contribute to departmental leadership and service activities
