About this role
The Product Development Chemist - Commercial Accounts is a hands-on materials and formulation leader responsible for guiding commercial product development, technical problem solving, and process optimization activities. This role combines advanced polymer and coatings formulation expertise with structured technical governance. It drives early-stage product development and establishes technical intent and success criteria.
Lead onboarding and early technical direction of commercial Development Requests. Evaluate technical feasibility, risk, effort, and manufacturability while answering the critical business question: “What would it take?”. Perform and guide initial laboratory work to establish direction before delegating structured execution.
Develop and refine formulations, constructions, and material solutions to meet customer performance and manufacturing requirements. Transition scale-up activities to the Customer Solutions Chemist once criteria are defined. Serve as escalation point for complex commercial technical issues within formal workflow systems.
Operate with high autonomy as the primary technical front door for commercial work. Authorize, filter, and frame Commercial Technical Services Requests. Ensure customer support, product development, and optimization align with business priorities through disciplined approaches.
Dunmore collaborates with customers in high growth markets like Aerospace and Automotive to solve difficult application problems. Maintain meaningful laboratory engagement and development ownership. Delight customers through technical innovation, high service levels, and open collaboration.
Requirements
- Advanced polymer and coatings formulation expertise

- Proficiency in developing novel coatings, films, and multi-layer laminates
- Knowledge of handling foils, plastics, and fabrics
- Skills in structured technical governance and process optimization
- Experience guiding laboratory work and scale-up transitions
