Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in materials science, polymer science, or related discipline (Master’s degree preferred)
  • 5+ years previous industry experience in rubber compounding
  • Hands-on experience in rubber mixing on a two-roll mill
  • Hands-on experience in rubber testing (tensile, abrasion, fatigue)
  • Hands-on laboratory chemistry experience (titrations, solution preparation)
  • Demonstrated ability to generate compounding alternatives to fix product challenges
  • Experience in experimental design and results analysis
  • Startup mentality and ability to wear multiple hats

Responsibilities

  • Explore novel raw ingredients (rubber, fillers, process aids, plasticizers, etc.) through high throughput formulation
  • Work closely with the development team to address unique compound challenges (formulating, processing, etc.)
  • Collaborate with supply chain to validate direct substitutions for production raw ingredients
  • Document results and provide conclusions and recommendations
  • Stay up to date with technological developments in rubber compounding
  • Seek bio-based analogues to petrochemical additives
  • Mix rubber compounds on a two-roll mill
  • Conduct rubber testing including tensile, abrasion, and fatigue
