GSK's MSAT Process Chemist Internship offers a real role with genuine impact on live projects. Assist in evaluating technical continuous improvement works for active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) production. Gain exposure to laboratory tasks from synthesis to analysis under process chemist guidance.

Provide routine plant support by aiding troubleshooting investigations and monitoring physical properties like particle size distribution and specific surface area. Evaluate product quality, yield, and operational ease. Participate in hands-on process troubleshooting and mimicking failure modes in a lab setting.

Work with a diversified team of professionals in a dynamic environment. Implement technical knowledge from school while applying communication skills to engage stakeholders. Experience the importance of process chemistry in API manufacturing and quality.

Acquire knowledge of good laboratory practices (GLP) and good documentation practices (GDP). Present results, join technical discussions, and influence data-driven decisions. Understand GSK culture and develop soft skills like interpersonal and negotiation abilities.

Receive transport to and from site to MRT stations across centralised locations in Singapore. Build independence in project activities while learning commercial API manufacturing. Applications reviewed on rolling basis; apply soon as vacancy closes when enough considered.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate studying a Bachelor’s Degree preferably in chemistry or equivalent discipline with focus in organic/organometallic synthesis, analytical, pharmaceutical science, and materials science
  • Enrolled at a Singapore university for the duration of internship and doing a full-time credit-bearing internship
  • Written and spoken fluency in English
  • Strong interest to learn more about commercial manufacturing of APIs
  • On-the-job learning with high level of independence in project activities
  • Strong written and oral communications skills
  • Meticulous, organized, and dedicated
  • Keen interest in production

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the evaluation of technical continuous improvement works of active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) production
  • Perform laboratory tasks ranging from synthesis to analysis of products under guidance of a process chemist
  • Evaluate resultant quality, yield, operational ease of products
  • Provide routine plant support including aiding troubleshooting investigations
  • Monitor physical properties such as particle size distribution and specific surface area
  • Gain hands-on experience on process troubleshooting and mimic process failure modes under laboratory setting
  • Conduct data analysis and interpretation of results
  • Present results and participate in technical discussions
