About this role

As an Automation Engineer within our Process Engineering & modeling team, you'll translate laboratory workflows into robust automated protocols and optimize existing automation infrastructure. Serve as the in-house expert for custom robotics and system orchestration to advance pharmaceutical development. Lead evaluation and implementation of new automated systems for process characterization.

Program and develop automated laboratory systems, supporting software development and deployment to automate workflows. Integrate analytical instruments with laboratory software and ensure seamless communication with Sanofi's internal data management services. Evaluate and select automation platforms and robotics systems suited for chemical and analytical workflows.

Work closely with laboratory teams including process chemists, engineers, and the high-throughput experimentation team. Foster strong partnerships with scientists to deeply understand their research processes. Collaborate with process chemistry teams to identify automation opportunities.

Assist in developing digital twins for batch and continuous processes and implement Model Predictive Control systems leveraging advanced process models. Requirements

  • Expertise in translating laboratory workflows into automated protocols for process chemistry
  • Proficiency in programming and developing automated laboratory systems and robotics
  • Experience integrating analytical instruments with laboratory software and data management services
  • Knowledge of evaluating automation platforms for chemical and analytical workflows
  • Familiarity with high-throughput experimentation tools like liquid handlers and solid dispensers
  • Skills in developing digital twins and Model Predictive Control for chemical processes
  • Ability to troubleshoot and maintain complex automated lab systems
  • Experience providing technical documentation and presentations for cross-functional teams

  • Provide technical presentations to project teams and document work in technical reports
