About this role

This full-time, 6-month co-op position is located in Cambridge, Massachusetts, within the Encoded Technologies chemistry team. The role focuses on synthesis and design of new compounds following DNA-encoded library screening.
You will synthesize and design novel compounds based on hits from DNA-encoded library screening. Gain insight into the broader aspects of the DNA-encoded library technology platform. Apply these technologies in drug discovery processes.
Work as part of GSK's Encoded Technologies group, a multi-disciplinary team of chemists, biologists, and data scientists. The team applies DNA-encoded libraries and other novel technologies to discover new therapeutics. Located in Cambridge, MA, the group is integral to GSK's drug discovery platform.

Requirements
- Pursuing a Masters or PhD in Chemistry or similar disciplines
- Sufficient theoretical understanding and laboratory experience in organic chemistry
- Skills in synthesis, purification, and characterization of organic compounds
- Able to work full-time (35-40 hours/week) for 6-month co-op duration
- Active student status and/or within 12 months post-graduation from BS or MS program
- Broad knowledge of organic reactions, methodologies, and reaction mechanisms
- Motivated to tackle new synthetic chemistry challenges
- Interest in DNA-encoded libraries and associated techniques
Responsibilities
- Synthesize new compounds following DNA-encoded library screening
- Design synthetic routes for novel organic compounds
- Purify synthesized organic compounds
- Characterize organic compounds using standard techniques
- Apply DNA-encoded library technologies in drug discovery
- Contribute to the Encoded Technologies chemistry team efforts
